A brand-new boiler can enhance your central heating system
As the cold winter approaches the nights get longer and the coldness creeps in, so we must all be prepared, and the best way to do this is via a gas central heating system. There’s nothing cosier than a warm room while a blizzard rages outdoors, and this warmth is best provided by a sturdy and efficient central heating system.
The two basic types of central heating systems are called pumped and vented, both of which are made up of a gas boiler, central heating radiators and usually copper pipework.
The most commonly used central heating systems are the pumped systems, which consists of two prominent parts, a feed and expansion tank; the tank is the core of the system, it first heats itself and then transfers the heat to the heaters through the pipes. The tank has enough storage space to allow for any water expansion that might result from the heating system.
The second type of heater is composed of a sealed system without a central component that is part of the radiator. No water tanks are necessary because the system is closed. The main assets of this system is that issues such as leaking and airlocks are minimised and, particularly for those who live in colder climates, pipes will not freeze.
You may ask why you need gas central heating and what are its advantages?.
Central heating is great in a way that it warms up your office and home at a lightening fast speed and the quality of the surrounding air doesn’t even get affected. Before the central heating system came into existence, other heaters like electric and storage heaters were used to keep the house warm or even coal fires. However, these were not ideal as they emitted an odour and affected the condition of the air, drying it out.
The central heating systems are free from all these drawbacks but they need regular maintenance to keep them operating reliably. Most people turn off their central heating systems during summertimes and switch them on only during winters, this should be totally avoided as the system could suddenly develop a problem as winter appears. You should instead try to gradually introduce them in the autumn time, testing so if things are playing up you can easily call out an engineer.
It is also important to remember that most home gas central heating systems allow in dust or air, thus requiring regular drainage. The best way to do it is to keep a bucket under the valve, and slowly open it to allow all the water to come out; before closing the valve, ensure that no more water is coming out.
