Can everybody get gas boiler maintenance policies

Today most possessions, right from pets to mobile phones, are covered by protection policies. There are those insurance policies that are obviously more important than others and some are required by law such as car insurance. Buildings insurance is required by the finance lender when an individual takes out a home mortgage. Policyholders are requireded by the lender to protect themselves from losses that could ruin their lives by these types of protection cover.

Moving a step down the ladder of importance we find central heating insurance, such as the products offered by British Gas. The central heating system in your house is an expensive component that sometimes suffers costly failures - yet homeowners do not take central heating system plans as seriously as they should. A broken down central heating system is highly troublesome, particularly in cold weather, and waiting for someone to come and fix it can be utter misery. More worryingly is the prospect of a faulty system leaking carbon monoxide, which can be fatal.

In the market there are a wide range of central heating, gas boiler and household maintenance plans. The most basic types are generally just service plans that fulfil the minimum requirements, including annual servicing and safety checks. However, the likes of spare parts and repair work are not included. But anyone taking out one of these plans, unless their gas boiler is still under warranty, only has to pay a small amount more per month to upgrade to a policy that covers repairs and spare parts. This extra money each month is well spent when a heating boiler is getting close to the end of its working life. Although a customer may just want their boiler covered, it might be prudent to have the rest of the system (radiators, heating controls, central heating pump and so on) covered too.

Exemptions or limitations which are written into the policy document should be carefully considered while choosing a policy. The insurance provider may set a ceiling cost for all repairs and spare parts within a year, or fix a restriction on how many house calls they will entertain. As should be done for all other kinds of plans, don’t simply select an insurance policy with the lowest cost without examining the level of coverage and ascertaining it fulfills your needs and that of your gas central heating system.
