Combination boiler space economy benefits
Combination boiler space economy benefits
tiny homes can benefit from installing a combi boiler as they require much less room than conventional boilers. All you require to set up the full central heating system is a combination gas boiler and balanced flue. To complete the heating you just need radiators, the essential fittings and a quantity of copper pipes. Your first reaction maybe that we had forgotten some parts. Central heating systems seem to require a hot water tank to store water, a feed and expansion cylinder in the attic and a water pump to move everything around.
Surprisingly a combination gas boiler does not require any of these parts. You can leave out the hot water storage tank, there is no call for for an attic based feed and expansion cylinder, the combi heating boiler also incorporates the other petite components. The result is that a lot of storage space is saved inside your household.
Do not think that all this is new as combination heating boilers have been installed for a while now. Whilst they were first fitted in the Continent they are now a very popular boiler for installation in the UK. By comparing with conventional heating boilers you will see that there are two main divergences. The first point to highlight is that the circulating hot water for the central heating is within a fully sealed system. This means that there is no demand for a feed and enlargement tank in the attic. Supplemental room is saved by the gas boiler integrating its own hot water storage cylinder removing the requirement for the hot water storage cylinder.
As hot water is needed it is produced immediately by the gas boiler, the heating boiler is aware of this when you switch on a hot water valve. Cold water is rapidly heated up by the use of an efficient heat exchanger. Water from the sealed central heating circuit is heated and is diverted to the hot water heat exchanger heating it up. This mechanism quickly heats cold mains water before it is running out on the hot water tap.
Hot water output is prioritised ahead of the passage of hot water to the radiators. Once the valve is closed and the need for hot water is removed the system will return to providing hot water to the radiators.
This might give you food for thought and the impetus to consider a combi gas boiler as your next brand-new gas boiler.
