Houses have various types of heating system

Different types of Gas Central Heating Systems are available in the market. Almost all these systems have a boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to radiators.

People in the UK, Europe and some parts of Russia, hardly need an air conditioner because of the low average temperature. That is why in the UK most houses built these days are constructed with Gas Central Heating Systems fully integrated into the home.

With the onset of winter, heating becomes crucial to warming your home. Heating your home provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. Your Central Heating System must be fault free as much as possible and efficient to cut bills. A good central heating system should inspire confidence, give value for money and be simple to operate.

Pumped/vented and sealed are the two main types of Central Heating Systems on the market.

The most commonly used systems are pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The hot water tank performs two functions; firstly, supply hot water to your house, and secondly, provides heat to the radiators. When the water expands as it is heated the expansion tank allows for this. The expansion tank is placed at highest spot to help create water pressure. The hot water tank has two main functions; to heat the house and and provide hot water for washing.

Older homes generally have pumped/vented Central Heating systems.

A slightly newer central heating boiler is sealed heating system and this is the preferred central heating system in newer properties. No water tanks are needed with the sealed system. In the absence of water tanks and pipework, the whole system is sealed and vented; here are some prominent benefits of such a system.

- As there are no pipes, they cannot freeze up in the loft.

- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.

- Reduces the risk of leaking.

- The sealing of the system eliminates dirt buildup, air locking and corrosion that often troubles open vented systems.

- The main water pressure can easily be used to flush out a Sealed system for easy upkeep.

A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a system with the required controls and safety equipment all contained in one. The water for a sealed Gas Central Heating System is supplied direct from the main water supply. The pressure of the main water supply benefits the hot water outlets and gives a healthy shower.

Separated from the sealed system by a diaphragm is a pressure vessel, which contains compressed gas; this vessel is responsible for managing variations of pressure in the heating system. If the pressure becomes too high in a sealed Gas Central Heating System; a safety valve will allow water to escape from the system and if the pressure drops too low a valve will open to refill the system with water.

Overall Central Heating Systems offer more value for money as compared to alternative heating systems as they can be very efficient. They offer you a lot more control of your home environment than the other heating systems.
