How many contrasting configurations of central heating boiler are there
There are many different types of gas Gas Central Heating Systems available to you. Almost all these systems have a heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to heating radiators.
In most parts of the UK air conditioning is hardly required because of the average temperatures of those regions. In fact, a decent central heating system is a necessity in these regions, and due to this, a majority of new houses have a Gas Central Heating system.
Heating is vital, especially as winter is fast approaching. Heating your home provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. Your Gas Central Heating System must be fault free as much as possible and efficient to cut bills. A good central heating system should inspire confidence, give value for money and be simple to operate.
There are two main types of Central Heating Systems; pumped/vented and sealed systems.
The vented/pumped one is more common of the two. An expansion tank is present in a pumped heating system. The hot water storage tank provides your home with warm water and brings heat to the radiators. When the water expands as it is heated the expansion tank allows for this. You will most likely find the expansion tank kept in the highest part of the house. The tank provides a dual supply of hot water and warmth for the house.
Older homes generally have pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems.
A slightly newer, more up-to-date gas boiler that many people are choosing over a pumped/vented Gas Central Heating system is a sealed system. A sealed system, as the name suggests is a closed system so no water tanks are needed. This unvented system eliminates water tanks and loft plumbing, thus giving a number of advantages.
- There is no chance of pipes freezing in the attic.
- No maintenance or repair work is required for the pipes and tank which would have been in the attic.
- The risk of a leaking water tank is all together missing.
- As there are no open vents, air cannot enter into the system and so the risk of corrosion, air locks and sludge is drastically cut.
- It is possible to flush out the system if required by using the mains water supply.
A sealed Gas Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. The mains water supplies the water required for the sealed Central Heating system. The mains water goes direct to the sealed system.
The system also has a pressure vessel which contains compressed gas, it controls the variations in pressure and a diaphragm is used to separate it from the sealed system. A safety valve will let water to escape or fill up depending on whether the pressure becomes too high or too low respectively.
Overall Central Heating Systems offer more value for money as equated to alternative heating systems as they can be very efficient. They also provide you with complete control which is much more than other heating systems can say about themselves.
