Various types of Central Heating Systems are available in the central heating market. Almost all these systems have a central heating boiler at the core, with pipework connecting it to heating radiators.
Across the majority of Northern Europe the climate is not warm enough to warrant air conditioning. Most of us need a decent heating supply far more; this is why the majority of new houses that are being built in this day and age are built with a Central Heating System.
Central Heating is vital, especially as wintertime is fast approaching. A well heated house can help create a comfortable space for you to enjoy with your family. Therefore your heating system needs to be efficient and reliable. It is important to have peace of mind that your Central Heating System is not only practical to use but also safe.
Pumped/vented and sealed are the two main types of Gas Central Heating Systems on the market.
Pumped or vented Gas Central Heating systems are most popularly used. The basic differentiating components of such a system are a feed and expansion tank. Your radiators are heated and your water is stored in a hot water tank. The tank makes way for any water expansion that is caused by the heating process. It is normally placed at the highest place of the house like the attic area, taking up space. It heats the house and doubles as the water supply.
A lot of older homes have pumped/vented Gas Central Heating systems.
A Sealed Gas Central Heating System is a relatively modern technology, and is being adopted by many homeowners today. No water tanks are needed for a Sealed system as it is a completely closed setup saving space. There are no pipework or tanks also in the attic, the system is sealed in the true sense and it has its own advantages.
- There is no chance of pipes freezing in the attic.
- attic space is freed up and pipe maintenance is reduced.
- Because the system is not vented, there is less chance of water leaking out.
- The sealing off of the system eliminates dirt buildup, air locking and corrosion that often troubles open vented systems.
- Can be flushed out under pressure if needed by the mains water supply.
A sealed Central Heating System is a packaged unit with all the necessary controls and safety devices. No tank feeds a sealed system, the supply comes directly from the mains. It feeds directly from the main water supply.
A pressure vessel containing tightly packed gas can allow a sealed system to have normal fluctuations of pressure; a diaphragm serves as a barrier between the gas and water in the sealed system. Pressure buildup in a Sealed system can be relieved by a safety valve which drains out water; and pressure drop is compensated by automatic fresh intake of water via another valve.
Overall Central Heating Systems offer more value for money as compared to alternative heating systems as they can be very efficient. They also offer you all round control which is more than most heating systems do.
